AVAILABLE:

Silhouette of Trudy the Toy Poodle and her owner on the Oregon coastline.
Toy Poodles: I have a young apricot female Toy Poodle looking for a guardian home. She is great with everyone she meets and gets along with cats and other dogs. She is very adaptable, and would do well just about anywhere, with anyone. I think she would prefer to be in a single-dog household where she can be the queen of the castle, but I will consider homes with other dogs.

She lives for people! Her temperament is so pleasant. She would be a great candidate for someone wanting to do therapy work, visiting seniors homes, etc. She loves to be a part of your day and has been a great customer greeter at our shop.

She is in good health and is an easy keeper. She loves to be outside and is moderately active, but does not require much exercise.

She will likely be bred for 2 litters, so she will need to come back to me for breeding/whelping. She will then be spayed and the guardian home contract will be completed.

I would like to keep her within the Lethbridge/Calgary/southern AB area.

Standard Poodles: We are accepting applications for a local home that would be interested in being a guardian home/co-own for a small Standard Poodle in 2026. Interest in showing is ideal but not required (I can arrange/take care of that), but you must be willing to maintain show coat, or to bring the dog to me for coat maintenance (free of charge).

Please contact me for more information.

INFORMATION:

A guardian home is where one of my breeding program dogs lives with a family of their own, while I still retain rights for a set number of litters (for females) or a set number of years (for stud dogs). A guardian home is the dog's primary family where the dog lives, and they come back to me for breeding/having a litter and sometimes for any health testing that might need to be done. Guardian dogs are generally heavily discounted because it is more involved than a regular pet home and there are more responsibilities required than with a regular pet home.

I am known for being very fair and reasonable in my
guardian home and co-owner arrangements, and am always in pursuit of the best interest of the dog and their family first.

Guardian Homes are available to those within southern Alberta, Canada - Lethbridge, Magrath, Raymond, Taber, Coaldale, Medicine Hat, Pincher Creek, Cardston, Ft. Mcleod, Claresholm, Nanton, etc. We may consider those slightly further in some scenarios (i.e., Calgary, Red Deer, etc.).

Guardian Home Program -

The purpose of this program is to:
  • Provide our dogs with loving, forever homes, where they will receive individual attention, training, exercise, etc.
  • Expand our breeding program in a more sustainable way
  • Provide an opportunity for families to own a top-quality puppy for a greatly reduced price (or a regular pet price, with financial reimbursement with each litter - it will depend on the puppy/arrangement)
  • Prevent having to rehome retired dogs, by placing them in their forever families from the very beginning

Responsibilities of a Guardian Home:
  • Routine maintenance and medical care, such as vaccines, dewormer, etc.
  • Feeding the dog a quality, balanced diet throughout their entire life
  • Enroll in an obedience class
  • Have a fully fenced yard for safety, and not leave the dog outside unattended
  • Have no other intact dogs in the home of the opposite sex of the guardian dog
  • Have the dog regularly groomed and exercised
  • Responsibly own an intact dog - not allow intact males to interact with females in heat, and vice versa

Responsibilities of Temple City Poodles:
  • Cover all breeding costs and care:
    • health testing
    • showing (if applicable)
    • stud fees, semen collection/analysis/shipping, etc.
    • whelping & pregnancy care (including supplements, whelping supplies, etc.)
    • raising any resulting litters
    • CKC registration of the guardian dog and litters
  • To provide discounted grooming & boarding services for the guardian dog
  • To travel to pick up the dog when needed for breeding, health testing appointments, etc. (or to arrange travel/reimburse travel expenses)

A Few Additional Benefits of Owning a Guardian Dog:
- Typically a shorter amount of time spent on the waiting list
- Large discounts on grooming & boarding for the dog's entire life.
- Guardian homes are provided with a small stipend for each litter/stud service
- Discounted dog food - wholesale price (if desired)
- The opportunity to own a wonderful dog, and to become involved in the world of responsible breeding.

Co-Ownership

Co-ownership is occasionally available to individuals who live further away, and are interested in showing, doing sports with their dog, and who are willing to keep their dog intact for potential future breeding for their own program. Co-ownership agreements and terms can depend on the individual home and the individual dog, so if you would like to discuss it further, feel free to contact me.
